Sports history in the making -- Hundreds of 10 - 12 year old youngsters competed this past Memorial Day weekend in Cerritos, California for the Dannon Invitational Cup at The Cerritos Memorial Challenge held May 24-26 for a shot to represent the U.S. in the most prestigious youth soccer competition in the world, the Danone Nations Cup. Twenty teams played matches over three days at the Dannon Invitational Cup at the Cerritos Memorial Challenge to determine the winning team. Teams that competed for the top spot represented soccer clubs from throughout California and Nevada.
FC BARCELONA BU11/BU12, under the guidance of Jose Aguilar and Silver Perez, perserveered and scored the winning goal. Now, the boy's team will represent the U.S. at the Danone Nations Cup to be held September 4-7, 2008 in Paris, France.
Sponsored by The Dannon Company, 14 players, one coach, and one assistant coach, from FC BARCELONA will now represent the United States at the Danone Nations Cup, making a historical play for the world title of best youth soccer team.
