COLLABORATION COACHES COURSE - IN BARCELONA

A group of eight of us had the good fortune to travel to Barcelona to attend a VIP Coaching Course, designed and presented by Barcelona's Academy Staff, specifically for us. Four coaches from our Arizona partner as well as four coaches from L.A. spent eight days in Barcelona studying every aspect of Barca's Academy structure and system of development. We were treated to the new $100 million dollar Academy Complex recently completed for all Barca Academy teams including Barca's 1st team. We attended training sessions in the evening and games on the weekend. We toured Camp Nou, the Museum, the Mini-Stadi, Ciudad Esportiva, Barca's Mega Store, as well as several popular pubs on the way to Nou Camp. We had the priveledge of spending time with several close friends, Zizinho Dos Santos & Mazinho Do Nascimiento, who both have sons playing in Barca's Academy, as well as meeting one of the most famous superstars to ever play for FCB, Hristo Stoichkov. The whole week was filled with social activities, meetings with Barca Directors and ex-Barca players, dinners with friends and Barca staff members, and to top it all off, we had the unbelievable fortune to attend two games culminating with "The Super Clasico" - Barca vs. Real Madrid. The game was played through the pouring rain but for us it didn't matter as Barca came away with a 2-0 victory in front of 100,000 cheering and singing Barca fans. This trip was more than a just a coaching course as we developed new relationships with Barca staff members and directors, as well as to build on all current relationships. We returned from Barcelona with the intent on bringing them to California this summer for a Summer Coaches Clinic. We are also working on setting up an on-going Coaches Course for all of our coaches this summer as well.

BARCA'S L.A. TOUR

FC Barcelona is using Regal Barça’s US tour to export some values which it hopes to further everywhere. “We are the sports ambassadors for Catalonia,” says Josep Cubells, the director in charge of Barça’s basketball section.

In the two days so far of Regal Barça’s US tour, Barça’s presence has started to make itself felt, especially among groups such as the Barcelona USA of Los Angeles, who were on hand for an inaugural ceremony with President Laporta and his staff as well as to meet the Regal Barca team.

“Barça is more than a club. We are the sports ambassadors for Catalonia and we want to export our way of being Catalans globally in terms of sports culture,” says Josep Cubells. “We’re now seeing that in the world’s biggest power, the United States.”
